Welcome to Ireland’s first democratic school for self-directed learning.
We will be opening in 2017 in the Bray/South Dublin area.

At Wicklow Sudbury School we recognise the importance of unstructured play in learning. Students of the school are free to play and fully immerse themselves in whatever passions and interests engage them. Free from scheduled lessons and curriculum, students decide for themselves how to organise their own time. In doing so, they learn to live their own independent lives based on their individual goals and aspirations.

Our school is inspired by the work of generations of educationalists and dozens of alternative schools, which have proven their value in helping children grow up happily and stay in touch with what moves and motivates them.

Property Appeal

Location update

The official opening of Wicklow Sudbury School is postponed until we find a suitable commercial property that meets all our criteria.

In the meantime, we are offering an alternative in a house in Sandyford, close to LUAS and bus routes. We can rent the location on a month-to-month basis.
This provides us with some breathing space while we keep looking for an ideal long-term home for Wicklow Sudbury School. During this time, the initial group of students and staff will begin to put the Sudbury school ethos into practice.
The house in Sandyford offers space for 18 children and 4 staff. Places have been reserved for those who have finalised their enrollment and paid a deposit for Wicklow Sudbury School and is now full.

We began in Sandyford on 7th September 2016.

We are currently looking into several properties with a view to finding a long-term home.
As always, we will keep you updated of any developments.
Thank you for your ongoing trust and support,
Your Wicklow Sudbury School Team
